Manchester United are willing to fork out €60 million to acquire the services of 26-year-old AC Milan star Theo Hernandez.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are looking to bolster their defence ahead of next season. They are keen on signing a new left-back, and Theo Hernandez is quite high on their wishlist. The AC Milan defender is one of the best full-backs in the world, and Erik ten Hag is keen on having him at his disposal.
Theo Hernandez’s rise to the top
It might not have worked out for Hernandez at Real Madrid. But he has turned things around since joining Serie A giants AC Milan in the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and at this point, in time he is right up there with the very best in the game.
The French international has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. He has 15 goal contributions in his 38 appearances. While the majority of those appearances have come as a left-back, he has also taken charge in the heart of the defence.
Hernandez is an important part of Milan’s first team, and his current deal runs until the summer of 2026. While they would love to have him in their ranks for years to come, the 26-year-old could be on the move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Manchester United to push for Theo Hernandez
Manchester United are one of the clubs pushing hard for Hernandez. The Red Devils have struggled in the full-back department because both Luke Shaw and summer signing Tyrell Malacia have been out injured for the majority of the season
They signed Malacia to ensure they have quality cover for Shaw, who has been injury-prone of late. Unfortunately, the Dutch full-back picked up a long-term and has been sidelined since the start of the season.
As a result, Manchester United are keen on bringing in a quality full-back who can be a regular starter for them. While the new owners have been on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run, they feel the need for an immediate fix at the left-back.
The Red Devils believe he will bolster their defence significantly. His leadership will help them rebuild the team and push for major titles. As a result, they are ready to fork out €60 million to bring him to Old Trafford. But, they are not the only club interested and will have to work very hard to get this deal over the line.
