Liverpool will demand €100 million to part ways with 25-year-old English international Trent Alexander-Arnold, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a target for Real Madrid. The Merengues are keen on identifying the ideal candidate to be the long-term successor to Dani Carvajal. But the 25-year-old Liverpool mainstay will cost around €100 million.
The Rise and Rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at Anfield. A rare academy graduate from Liverpool when he burst onto the scene several years ago, he has paved the way for other highly-rated prospects to carve out a place for themselves in the senior setup.
The 25-year-old has gone from strength to strength at the Merseyside club, becoming a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s team. He has also won almost every trophy at the club level, with the UEFA Europa League on his and Liverpool’s agenda this term. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 season thus far, amassing two goals and ten assists in 29 outings.
But the English international has entered the final 18 months of his contract with Liverpool, leaving the club in a spot of bother. While the Reds are confident of tying Alexander-Arnold to a new deal, his situation has piqued the interest of a few high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid Interested
Real Madrid’s interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold is understandable. Dani Carvajal is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final phase of his glittering career. In addition, Lucas Vazquez is in his thirties and in the final six months of his contract. However, the Spaniard will likely sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
Nevertheless, Alexander-Arnold is a viable target for Real Madrid, although he will cost a bomb. The report has claimed that Liverpool will demand a hefty nine-figure sum of €100 million to part ways with the 25-year-old English international despite his contract situation.
That might be a prohibitive price, although Real Madrid might have the financial capacity to afford him. However, Alexander-Arnold wants to sign a new contract with Liverpool, meaning a move to Real Madrid will unlikely see the light of day.
