Arsenal could consider re-signing Ismael Bennacer in the summer as part of their midfield shake-up, with AC Milan open to a sale.
According to Calciomercato, Arsenal are one of the clubs eyeing a move for Ismael Bennacer. The Serie A winner could become a target for Mikel Arteta and part of the Spaniard’s midfield shake-up at the Emirates, with AC Milan probably considering a sale of the Algerian for €50 million.
Arsenal keen on re-signing Ismael Bennacer?
Ismael Bennacer left Arsenal back in the summer of 2017, having made one senior appearance for Arsene Wenger’s team. He did play plenty of games for the youth sides before leaving for a new adventure in Empoli. The Algerian international has made a name for himself in Serie A, most specifically with AC Milan.
Bennacer had established himself as a critical member of Stefano Pioli’s side. But policy changes at San Siro could see him leave in the summer. Incidentally, last month, he had links with Real Madrid, although that might seem unrealistic. However, a return to the Premier League might become a possibility.
Arsenal are interested in re-signing their former midfielder. But they must stump up the required €50 million sum for the Serie A winner. The Gunners are eyeing a midfield shake-up in the summer, and they could see at least 2-3 of their current midfielders depart, meaning there is plenty of room on the side for a new addition.
Bennacer has proved his worth in Serie A, and Arsenal may consider approaching the player. However, the Gunners must mind his recent injury record, which has been a bit worrying, especially those he has suffered since returning from a severe knee problem.
AC Milan open to selling Bennacer?
AC Milan, like Arsenal, are considering a shake-up within their squad. They are valuing players who could offer them longevity and could cash in on those they feel could bring in considerable funds. The €50 million-rated Bennacer could well be part of the sales list, alongside some other stars.
Milan already have some promising names in their midfield, like Yacine Adli and Tijjani Reijnders. There are other stars like Yunus Musah and Tommaso Pobega, who are waiting to establish themselves as key members of Pioli’s squad. Hence, there is a big chance for someone like Bennacer to depart, with Arsenal likely to emerge in the race in a big way.
