Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out the possibility of Arsenal pushing for the services of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.
According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Arsenal are keen on adding another star midfielder to their ranks in the summer but Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone is not one of the names on their radar.
The Gunners added Declan Rice to their ranks last summer. The North London club forked out a fortune to have him at their disposal. His arrival has done wonders for them but there is still room for another midfielder in the team.
Arsenal’s plans for the summer
Jorginho is in the last phase of his career and he is not getting any younger. Meanwhile, the future of Thomas Partey at the club isn’t that certain. As a result, the Gunners will make a move for a new midfielder and it is something to keep an eye on.
While they have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone, Romano feels there is nothing concrete about those stories. Douglas Luiz and Amadou Onana are two players Arsenal really like. They have been monitoring the duo and are well-informed about them which suggests they could make moves in the summer.
Kone’s rise at Monchengladbach
Meanwhile, Kone has had an impressive rise at Monchengladbach. The 22-year-old midfielder came up the ranks at Toulouse before the German club signed him in the winter of 2021. He stayed at the French club on loan for the next six months before making a move to his new club in the summer.
Over the years, he has gone from strength to strength. And, of late he has put in some impressive performances which have attracted a lot of interest from across Europe. In the ongoing season, he has featured in 21 matches and has four goal contributions in around 1,500 minutes of first-team football.
While the 22-year-old prefers playing as a central midfielder, he can even feature as an attacking or a defensive midfielder. His versatility and huge potential have attracted a lot of interest and Arsenal are just one of the clubs that have been linked with him. But, according to Romano, the Gunners will not push for him. They have other targets and will focus on those.
