Real Madrid and Manchester United will reportedly compete with Barcelona for 25-year-old RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dani Olmo is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 25-year-old RB Leipzig playmaker is ready to rejoin Barcelona in the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid and Manchester United will provide stiff competition in the race to sign him from the Bundesliga club.
The Dani Olmo Story
Dani Olmo has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020. The Spaniard is a former trainee of Barcelona’s fabled La Masia division but ended his youth career in Croatia. His stock rose during his stint with Dinamo Zagreb and has skyrocketed during the spell with RB Leipzig.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 campaign despite some fitness issues, amassing seven goals and four assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. The player also scored a match-winning hat-trick in the DFL Supercup as RB Leipzig clinched a shock win over Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Olmo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.
A Man in Demand
Barcelona’s interest in Olmo is not new. The Catalan giants have been keen on re-signing the Spanish international for several years. They even attempted to bring him back to Catalonia in the last two summer transfer windows before a move failed to materialise. So, with Raphinha facing an uncertain future, Barcelona can replace him with the RB Leipzig playmaker.
As for Real Madrid, the Merengues also hold a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old playmaker. With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approaching the final phase of their respective careers, Real Madrid can do with a new creative midfielder.
Meanwhile, Manchester United can utilise Dani Olmo on the right flank due to his adeptness in the position. With Antony and Jadon Sancho proving to be flops at Old Trafford, Manchester United can do with a new right-winger, making the RB Leipzig playmaker a viable target.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club might be powerless to stop the Spaniard. The 25-year-old is open to rejoining Barcelona in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid and Manchester United can turn the player’s head.
