Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign 18-year-old Dutch defender Dean Huijsen from Serie A club Juventus, who will demand €30-35 million to sell him.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Dean Huijsen is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are in the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Juventus will demand around €30-35 million to part ways with the 18-year-old defensive sensation.
Who is Dean Huijsen?
Dean Huijsen has proven himself a promising prospect since joining AS Roma on loan from fellow Serie A club Juventus in the winter transfer window. Born in Amsterdam to a Dutch family, the youngster spent most of his formative years in Spain after his parents moved to the country when he was five years old.
The 18-year-old ended his youth career at Juventus after joining the Serie A club in July 2021. But he has not established a foothold in the first-team squad at the Allianz Stadium. So, the Bianconeri loaned the Dutch youth international out to AS Roma in January. And Huijsen has done well for the Giallorossi, chipping in with two goals and one assist in ten appearances.
Huijsen’s progress at AS Roma has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. The youngster’s next destination might be Aston Villa.
Aston Villa Want Huijsen
Aston Villa’s interest in Dean Huijsen is understandable. The West Midlands outfit will likely lose Clement Lenglet in the summer transfer window. While they have not ruled out a move for the French defender, it behoves them to keep their options open. The 18-year-old is thus a viable target for Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old can be Aston Villa’s long-term central defensive solution, accompanying Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres for the coming decade. But Huijsen will not come cheap, with Juventus slapping a price tag worth €30-35 million on him.
Spending €30-35 million to sign a teenage prospect might be worth the investment. But it is unclear if the Dutch centre-back is open to joining Aston Villa instead of waiting for a bigger club to launch the offensive to secure his services.
