Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.
A report from Football Insider claims that Liverpool will demand £20 million for the 25-year-old goalkeeper at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to pay up for his services.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has established himself as an important first-team player for Liverpool and he has been very impressive in the cup competitions. He helped Liverpool win the English League Cup back in 2022 and he helped them win the Carabao Cup last week as well. Kelleher was outstanding in the final against Chelsea on both occasions.
There is no doubt that he can be a reliable goalkeeper at a high level. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Kelleher to Celtic?
He was recently linked with a move to Scottish club Celtic. Kelleher needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and leaving Liverpool would be ideal for him. He is unlikely to be a regular starter for them ahead of Alisson Becker. His game time will be limited to the cup competitions. He needs more first team action in order to fulfil his potential.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. The £20 million asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality in today’s market. He could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons. The goalkeeper is 25 and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He is yet to enter his peak years and he should prove to be a quality investment for most clubs.
It will be interesting to see if any Premier League club is willing to sign the player at the end of the season. The ppportunity to compete in the Premier League regularly will be an attractive option for the player. That said, Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world as well and the opportunity to play regularly for them will be hard to turn down.
