Tottenham uninterested in selling Son Heung-min, open talks over new deal

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min has recently been linked with a move away from the North London club.

Tottenham are uninterested in selling Son Heung-min, and they are ready to open fresh formal talks with the 31-year-old regarding a contract extension, as per Football Insider.

Son has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2025, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can secure an agreement. He has been linked with several Saudi Arabian clubs recently.

The South Korean international has been a key player for the North London club this season, scoring 12 goals across all competitions. Despite his age, he remains one of the best attackers in the Premier League, and Tottenham would do well to secure his services for the long term.

The South Korean international is versatile enough to operate as a centre-forward as well as a winger. He has been an indispensable asset since joining Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen, and he continues to be a key player for them.

Tottenham must do everything to keep Son Heung-min at the club

Apart from his quality on the pitch, Son is one of the leaders in the Spurs dressing room, and keeping him at the club should be a top priority for them. Spurs will be hoping to win major trophies in the coming seasons, and they need to hold on to their best players.

They sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane last summer and cannot afford to lose the 31-year-old as well. Apart from Son, Tottenham are missing a reliable goalscorer in their ranks. They will find it difficult to replace him especially with a direct replacement for Kane still missing.

It remains to be seen whether Son is prepared to commit his long-term future to the club and sign a new deal with them. Tottenham are going through a purple patch right now under their new manager.

They are well-placed to secure Champions League qualification, and they have played some exciting attacking football under Ange Postecoglou. The spirits are certainly high around the club under the Australian’s management, and that could play a key role in convincing the South Korean to sign a new deal at the club.
