Tottenham, Leeds United wage battle for Festy Ebosele

Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United are both keen on having 21-year-old Irish wing-back Festy Ebosele in their ranks.

According to a report by HITC, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United are both looking to bolster their defence ahead of next season by signing Festy Ebosele. The 21-year-old wing-back has been in sensational form of late, and his performances for Serie A club Udinese have resulted in interest from across Europe.

Ebosele’s impressive rise in Italy

Festy Ebosele came up the ranks at Derby County before joining Udinese Calcio in the summer of 2022. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move. Last season, the young wing-back was a regular part of their first team, but the majority of his appearances came as a substitute.

Things have changed in the ongoing season as he has managed to establish himself in the starting XI. He has featured in 24 league games and has racked up close to 1,500 minutes. The 21-year-old has put in some exceptional performances for the Serie A club, which have resulted in a lot of interest.

Tottenham keen on the Irish sensation’s signatures

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs interested in the former Derby County star. The North London club feel they do not have enough depth in the wing-back department behind the first-choice pairing of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie. They have been looking across Europe for young prospects who can be a part of their first team.

Ebosele’s impressive rise at the Serie A club caught the attention of Spurs, who have been scouting him ever since. They feel the versatile defender can add depth and could even play an important role. While they are keen on adding him to their ranks, Tottenham are not the only club interested, as even Leeds United would love to have him in their ranks.

Leeds United willing to battle it out with Tottenham

The EFL Championship club are pushing for a return to the English top flight. They are currently second on the points table and have every chance of making a return. If they manage to do so, they could become serious contenders for Ebosele’s services.

Leeds could offer him a more important role at their club, and they could lure him. He is a very attractive option for both clubs because he qualifies as a homegrown player, having come up the ranks at Derby County after parting ways with Ireland First Division club Bray Wanderers early in his childhood.
