Boca Juniors have no interest in parting ways with Kevin Zenon in the summer amid Newcastle United’s interest in the winger.
According to InfoBae, Boca Juniors prefers to avoid parting ways with Newcastle United’s target, Kevin Zenon, in the summer. The left-sided operator only arrived in January, although he has a $15 million release clause. Should the Magpies trigger it, there’s little the Argentine side can do to stop his move.
Boca Juniors want to keep Kevin Zenon
Boca Juniors signed Kevin Zenon in January for a modest fee of around $3.5 million from CA Union, which has a hefty clause to retain most of his economic rights. Boca only inserted a $15 million release clause, which may not net them a decent profit should they sell the 22-year-old Argentine winger immediately.
The Argentine giants did not envisage the emergence of sudden interest in the winger, with Newcastle United keen on Zenon. The Magpies have a stronghold in the South American markets and reportedly had scouts watching the 22-year-old Argentine winger for Boca Juniors.
Boca has no interest in selling Zenon so soon in his career at the club. They are aware of the interest from Newcastle United, which has forced them to renegotiate terms with the player and potentially look to increase his release clause to $20 million.
The significant risk for Boca is the presence of the current release clause, and should Newcastle or any other club trigger it, the Argentine giants can do little about it. Hence, it’s imperative in the interest of the South American side to get an agreement with the 22-year-old Argentine winger to acquire new terms, as only then will a move away make economic sense for the club.
Newcastle United are looking for a new midfielder
Newcastle United may undergo a series of changes in the summer window, as Eddie Howe could be forced to revamp his midfield. Considering the Zenon interest, the 22-year-old Argentine winger is more likely to be seen as a replacement for Joelinton, who could depart the Magpies.
There are also rumours that Bruno Guimaraes may be departing, as he has a release clause in place in his Newcastle United deal.
