All ‘Big Six’ clubs, including Liverpool, have established contact to sign Amadou Onana, a target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Amadou Onana is the subject of interest from all ‘Big Six’ clubs. The outlet has claimed that all the bigwigs have established contact to sign the Everton midfielder, valued at £53 million. So, Liverpool and Tottenham have joined Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United in the race to sign him.
The Rise of Amadou Onana
Amadou Onana has seen his stock soar in the last 18 months. The Belgian international had captured the attention of mid-table Premier League clubs with his exploits for LOSC Lille. But he has found himself on the radar of several bigwigs since joining Everton in August 2022.
The 22-year-old has turned out 60 times thus far for Everton, chipping in with three goals and three assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of every ‘Big Six’ club. So, Liverpool will compete with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for his signature. Meanwhile, Everton will demand at least £53 million to sell him.
A Man in Demand
Liverpool’s interest in Amadou Onana is understandable. The Reds are in the market for a holding midfielder after signing only Wataru Endo last summer. So, the Everton midfielder has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool. As for Arsenal, the Gunners are in the market for a midfield reinforcement.
Arsenal will likely part ways with Thomas Partey in the summer transfer window due to his sketchy fitness record. So, Onana is an option worth considering for the North London club. Meanwhile, Chelsea recently opened talks to sign the Belgian international. But their interest in the youngster is surprising, considering their heavy investment in midfielders last year.
So, it is difficult to see how the 22-year-old might fit into the scheme of things at Chelsea. Manchester United also want a versatile midfielder amid uncertainties surrounding Casemiro’s future. So, Onana can be Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term partner in the middle of the park.
All ‘Big Six’ clubs have established contact over a possible move for Amadou Onana. They also have the financial ability to afford to pay £53 million to sign him from Everton in the summer transfer window.
