Chelsea continue their recruitment policy of acquiring young talent from around the world, and are monitoring as many as “15 young talents” ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window.

Despite receiving heavy criticism from various sections of the fanbase and media alike, Chelsea are set to stick with their youth recruitment policy in the upcoming summer transfer window, with their sights set on 15 players right now, as per Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT.

Chelsea’s transfer spending has gone beyond the €1 billion mark since the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital takeover in May 2022.

While the Blues previously tended to go after big names and proven, experienced players, the aim is now to build a more long-term project around some of the world’s top young players, who don’t come cheap bear in mind.

The Blues’ stockpiling elite young talent is a move that Boehly and Clearlake hope will save — and perhaps even earn — them 10s of millions in the transfer market in the coming years, and while this past January window was a quiet one, they have spent aggressively to land players under the age of 25.

Their results haven’t improved from last season, though. Following their embarrassing 4-2 home defeat to Wolves, Chelsea have now won just one of their last four Premier League matches and have dropped to 11th place in the table – 15 points adrift from the top four.

There has been real outcry amongst the fanbase this approach of amassing a group of some of the most-talented young players in the world, all on long-term contracts, hasn’t really worked so far, and that their strategy might have been better focused towards more experienced players who could make an immediate impact.

However, Chelsea have no plans of ditching their original transfer policy, and continuing to monitor many young talents, as per Romano, who has also provided an update on Chelsea’s potential pursuit of Antonio Nusa and Roony Bardghji.

Romano told GMS: “I think this is just normal scouting of talent and activity, nothing imminent or advanced. I think Chelsea are just looking at many talents around the world we can mention probably 15 In this moment, but nothing is really concrete. I also heard these rumours [Antonio Nusa and Roony Bardghji] but at the moment Chelsea are quiet, I would say. Just looking at some opportunities, but nothing is really imminent.”

Club Brugge youngster Nusa, for one, was subject of a rejected £23 million bid from the Blues’ last summer on deadline day and was also linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge in January, but the player stayed put with the Belgian outfit for the rest of the campaign despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur as well.

The same goes for 18-year-old Copenhagen youngster Bardghji, who has been heavily linked with a host of clubs around Europe, including Chelsea, but decided against moving clubs midway through the season.
