Manchester United are interested in having Barcelona’s star duo of Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo in their ranks.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United will look to bolster their squad in the next summer transfer window. The Reds Devils want to push for major titles and in order to achieve their goals, they are looking to sign Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.
De Jong has been on Manchester United’s radar for a while now. Erik ten Hag was keen on making him his star signing during the summer of 2022. However, a transfer couldn’t materialise back then. The Reds Devils have been closely monitoring him ever since.
Recent reports suggest the Dutch international is considering parting ways with Barcelona. He made the move to the Catalan giants from Ajax in the summer of 2019 in order to fulfil his dream of winning the Champions League. But, that hasn’t happened yet and as a result, De Jong is considering his future.
The Red Devils would love to have the former Ajax midfielder in their ranks and they will surely push for his services in the summer. But, he is not the only one they want to sign. The Manchester-baed club are also interested in having Araujo in their ranks.
Erik ten Hag is keen on more defensive depth, he wants to sign someone who can raise the standards and he is willing to bet on the 24-year-old Barcelona centre-back. Both, De Jong and Araujo’s contract with the Catalan giants runs until the summer of 2026.
They have been offered an opportunity to sign a new deal. But, if they do not put pen to paper, they will have to look for a new club. The Catalan giants would prefer to have them in their ranks for years to come but they are willing to negotiate the departure if needed.
The Spanish giants don’t have the best of financial situations and the departure of one of their stars will surely help them balance the books. It could give them the money needed to bolster other areas. As per the report, United will have to fork out £120 million to sign the star duo. They seem quite determined and are expected to go all out to make it happen.
