Newcastle United, Tottenham front-runners to sign Albert Gudmundsson

Genoa will place a €30 million price tag on in-demand attacker Albert Gudmundsson, with Tottenham and Newcastle United keen.

According to Calciomercato, Newcastle United and Tottenham are keen on Albert Gudmundsson ahead of the summer transfer window. The attacker was the subject of interest from many clubs, and Genoa could place a €30 million price tag and stick with it.

Newcastle United and Tottenham are interested in Gudmundsson

Albert Gudmundsson has made a big enough mark at Genoa this season, making the club one of the toughest in Serie A. The Italian side were adamant about not letting the attacker leave in the January window, as they might have received a few approaches, possibly even a bid.

Gudmundsson’s eleven goals and three assists in all competitions make him a formidable attacker, as Genoa could brace themselves for bids in the summer. Genoa are open to selling him if they get €30 million in exchange.

With the attacker continuing his performances, the chances of Genoa dropping his current price point seem difficult. Hence, for teams like Tottenham, who have been interested, and Newcastle United, it could open up a good opportunity with the Icelandic attacker.

The Premier League duo are in the market for a new forward-minded player and could target the €30 million-rated forward, Gudmundsson. Genoa have already shown with the January sale of Radu Dragusin that they are not perplexed by the negotiation tactics of English clubs and will continue to demand their asking fee for Gudmundsson.

Newcastle and Tottenham eyeing a new attacker

For Tottenham, it is more about finding that extra layer in their attack that could change dynamics and make them less predictable. Ange Postecoglou had eyes for a new striker in January but ended up signing Timo Werner on loan, with the German also capable of playing centrally.

Newcastle’s ideas are slightly different, as they might have a different summer window than Tottenham’s. If Eddie Howe remains on the job, he would like to refresh his attacking lineup, with Callum Wilson likely to leave in the close season.

Howe might prefer someone like Gudmundsson, who offers versatility across the front three, although he could sign a replacement striker for Wilson. Either way, Newcastle and Tottenham might target someone like the €30 million-rated Serie A forward as an option, although the Genoa star may not be a priority target for either side.
