Arsenal are ready to part ways with their 30-year-old defensive midfielder Thomas Partey for €18-20 million.
According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are ready to negotiate the departure of Thomas Partey. The 30-year-old hasn’t been at his best of late and Mikel Arteta is keen on making room for new additions.
Partey came up the ranks at Atletico Madrid and became one of the mainstays of Diego Simeone’s team before parting ways with join Arsenal towards the end of 2020. The Gunners forked out around €50 million to sign the Ghana international.
While he has featured in over 100 matches for the North London club, he hasn’t been that big a success at Arsenal. The 30-year-old has had his share of struggles, injuries haven’t been kind. Since the start of the 2023/24 season, he has only featured in five matches.
He still has over a year left on his deal with the English club but Partey is unlikely to stay there beyond the summer. Mikel Arteta hasn’t been that pleased with him and is ready to sanction his exit in order to make room for new players.
And, according to the report the Gunners are ready to sanction his departure for €18-20 million. The Ghana international might have struggled with fitness but he still has a lot of football left in him. A move elsewhere could help him revive himself.
There is a lot of interest in the former Atletico Madrid midfielder from Italy. Serie A clubs feel he could be of great use to them. Juventus are one of the clubs that have been keen on having him in their ranks. The Old Lady are willing to bet on the 30-year-old, they feel he could revive himself in the Italian league.
Since there are quite a few clubs keen on his signatures, the Gunners will hope they can strike a deal for his departure and invest the incoming funds to land someone who can help them in the long run. They will look for someone who can form a strong core with summer signing Declan Rice.
