Arsenal are closely monitoring 19-year-old Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder Oscar Gloukh amidst interest from Barcelona.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal are keen on having Oscar Gloukh in their ranks. The 19-year-old sensation has made quite a name for himself, and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Barcelona.
Who is Oscar Gloukh?
Gloukh came up the ranks at Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv. He made his first team debut at the age of 17 and has since gone from strength to strength. The youngster moved to Austria in the winter of last year and has since featured in a total of 43 matches while contributing towards 17 goals.
He has taken his game to another level in the ongoing season. The 19-year-old has featured in 26 matches and has 13 goal contributions thanks to six goals and seven assists. His performances and his impressive rise have not gone unnoticed.
A Man in Demand
Multiple clubs from across Europe are keen on his signatures, and Arsenal are one of them. The Gunners are always on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run. The Israeli international seems to be a perfect fit for the Gunners’ style of play.
With Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira likely to leave the club in the summer, Arsenal do not have much depth in the attacking midfield position. If Martin Odegaard picks up a long-term injury, things could get difficult for them. As a result, they are interested in having the 19-year-old in their ranks.
Not only will he be an ideal cover for Odegaard, but he could eventually be one of the mainstays of the team. As a result, Arsenal have been scouting him of late, and they will continue monitoring him for months to come as they decide whether to make a move or not.
But, the Gunners are not alone in the race, and they will face competition from Barcelona, who have been interested in him for years now. They wanted to sign him before he made the move to Red Bull Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv for €7 million. The Catalan giants still remain interested and will surely make things difficult for Mikel Arteta’s team.
