Arsenal viewing Martin Zubimendi as top summer target

Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for the Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi for a while.

A report from Daily Mirror has claimed that Arsenal will prioritise the move for Martin Zubimendi at the end of the season, and he is one of their top targets. However, they will face competition from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona Want Martin Zubimendi

Barcelona are keen on improving their central midfield options, and they need someone who can dominate the midfield for them. Zubimendi is certainly the ideal fit for the Blaugrana and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The midfielder has a €60 million release clause in his contract, and whoever wants to sign him will have to pay up. Arsenal certainly have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price.

However, Barcelona are going through financial difficulties, and they might struggle to cough up a premium for the 25-year-old midfielder unless they can get rid of some of their fringe players first.

The midfielder will probably prefer to stay in Spain and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world if it comes down to him. Arsenal will have to come forward with a lucrative proposal to convince the player. In addition, the North London club would need to secure UEFA Champions League football to attract a player of his calibre.

Martin Zubimendi on the Rise

Zubimendi has already established himself as one of the best midfielders in La Liga, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the North London outfit. He could be the ideal replacement for Thomas Partey, and he will help Arsenal dominate midfield contests with his calmness, composure and technical ability.

The Spaniard is still relatively young, and he is only going to get better with coaching and experience Postecoglou, The 25-year-old could easily justify the €60 million investment in the coming seasons.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can beat the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich to his signature. But with the race to sign the Spanish midfielder heating up, the chase will likely go down the wire.
