Sevilla are closing in on signing 20-year-old Argentine forward Alejo Veliz as Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sanction a loan move.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Alejo Veliz could complete a loan move to Sevilla in the next few hours. The Spanish club want to add depth to their attack before time runs out, and the 20-year-old is a top target for them.
Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the market for a striker, have given the green light to the move. And if everything goes according to plan, the transfer should be completed before the end of the day.
Who is Alejo Veliz?
Veliz came up the ranks at the Argentine club Rosario Central. He made it to their first team in the summer of 2022. And after an impressive first season with their first team, Tottenham Hotspur came calling and acquired his services last summer.
Since making the move to the North London club, he has featured in a total of eight matches. The majority of those appearances have come as a substitute in injury time. He had a 20-minute stint against Brighton towards the end of last year and even managed to find the back of the net.
The 20-year-old has huge potential. But he has not had enough game time at Spurs. First-team action is needed for him to develop his game further, and there is an opportunity as La Liga giants Sevilla are knocking on the door to sign him on loan.
La Liga Loan on the Cards?
As reported by David Ornstein, Tottenham received an offer from Sevilla for the services of Veliz last night. The Spanish club are keen on bolstering their attack and are ready to sign him on loan until the end of the season. It will be a straightforward loan move without any option/obligation to buy.
Spurs were expected to make a decision today and as per Romano, they have given the green light to the move. While the North London club are ready to sanction his exit, there are details that need to be taken care of. It is up to Sevilla now and if everything goes according to plan, Veliz should be in La Liga for the rest of the season.
