Manchester United are making moves to land the 22-year-old Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Joshua Zirkzee at the club.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their attack in the near future. The Red Devils haven’t been at their best in front of goal and that has hurt their season. As a result, Erik ten Hag’s team are looking to add Joshua Zirkzee to their ranks.
Things might not have worked out for Zirkzee at Bayern Munich but he has managed to turn things around since joining Bologna in the summer of 2022. He has gone from strength to strength and is currently enjoying a great season having contributed towards 13 goals in his 23 outings.
His impressive performances in the Italian league haven’t gone unnoticed. Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in the 22-year-old Dutch youth international.
The Red Devils have struggled in the ongoing season and one of the reasons for their struggle has been their poor form in front of goal. Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has shown flashes of his potential but he hasn’t been consistent enough.
They want a new number nine, someone who can support Hojlund and can add goals to their squad. Zirkzee is a player they admire and he can surely help them for years to come.
Given their struggles, they would love to sign him in the ongoing window. But a deal at this stage is unlikely given United’s financial situation and the fact that only hours are left before the window shuts.
The Red Devils will have a much better FFP stance in the summer and the arrival of a new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe will bring in cash injection. Pushing for him i
Meanwhile, United have already made an approach to sign him in the summer. They have established contacts with the player’s representatives as they look to beat Arsenal and Tottenham to a move.
The Gunners and Spurs have been linked with the 22-year-old. While they might not have made any moves yet, that could change in the summer. Both clubs are in need of a new number nine. Mikel Arteta is not happy with his strikers’ output while Spurs are yet to sign a Harry Kane replacement.
While there is a €40 million clause in his contract, it is only available to his former club Bayern as per Bologna. But, the German club’s stance on re-signing him are not that clear. If either of the Premier League clubs make a move they can start negotiating at around €30 million but it will take close to €40 million to convince the Italian club to sell.
