Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Swedish midfield sensation Hugo Larsson, valued at €80 million by Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to a report by German outlet BILD, several Eintracht Frankfurt players are on the radar of Premier League clubs. One of these stars is Hugo Larsson, who will cost around €80 million. Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in prising the Swedish midfield sensation away from the Bundesliga club.
Who is Hugo Larsson?
Hugo Larsson has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Bundesliga since joining Eintracht Frankfurt. A native of Svarte, the 19-year-old graduated from the fabled academy at Malmo FF a couple of years ago. But he has risen in prominence after joining the Bundesliga club last summer.
The Swedish international has already turned out four times for his national team. Meanwhile, he has managed over 2,000 minutes of game time this term for Eintracht Frankfurt, making 26 appearances while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Larsson’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
Premier League Calling?
Arsenal will delve into the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window. The North London club will likely part ways with Thomas Partey, whose persistent fitness issues have made him a liability at the Emirates. So, it behoves Arsenal to invest in a midfielder ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Gunners have thus set their sights on several midfielders, including Liverpool target Ederson. But Omar Marmoush is also a viable target for Arsenal. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt will demand €80 million to part ways with the Swedish midfield sensation. The report claims that the high valuation should not deter Arsenal or Liverpool.
Speaking of Liverpool, the Reds also have several midfielders on their radar apart from Ederson, including Joshua Kimmich. Jurgen Klopp will part ways with Liverpool in the summer, but that does not alleviate the club’s need for a midfielder. Hugo Larsson is thus an option worth considering.
While the report claims Arsenal and Liverpool can afford to pay €80 million to secure Larsson’s services, the Premier League’s Sustainability Rules might deter clubs in the summer if they are not careful about their spending. It will be interesting to see if Hugo Larsson swaps the Bundesliga for the Premier League in the summer.
