Marco Silva’s Fulham are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the 25-year-old Benfica forward Petar Musa.
According to Record via Sport Witness, Fulham are looking to bolster their attack in the ongoing January transfer window and are considering making a late move for the services of Petar Musa. The 25-year-old is considering parting ways with Benfica, and the English club are a potential destination.
Fulham Scouring the Market for an Attacker
The Cottagers might be 13th in the Premier League, but they are only eight points clear of the drop zone. As a result, any addition to their ranks will help them fight for survival in the English top flight. Musa might not be the best in the world but he can certainly contribute in the final third of the pitch.
The Portuguese club acquired the services of the 25-year-old in the summer of 2022. He has since featured in 66 games and has contributed towards 22 goals. The Croat has done his bit, but he has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter. And despite having over three years left on his deal, his future at Benfica does not look bright.
In the ongoing season, he has featured in a total of 25 matches but has been on the pitch for less than 900 minutes. Musa only has eight goal contributions to his name, and he is clearly not the first-choice striker. And, the arrival of Marcos Leonardo from Brazil will see him go further down the pecking order.
Petar Musa on the Move?
The Croatian forward is unlikely to get much game time in the second half of the season. As a result, he would prefer to move elsewhere. Multiple clubs from across Europe are aware of the situation and are willing to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
Fulham are one of the clubs from England that are willing to acquire the services of Musa. They are in the relegation battle and given their recent form, they do need reinforcement. The Cottagers have suffered defeats in four out of their last five league games, they are amongst the lowest-scoring teams in the division and a new number nine is the need of the hour, with Jhon Cordoba also emerging as a target.
While the Cottagers’ interest in him is new, they could soon put forward an offer for his services. It is a race against time and there will be competition from other clubs but Marco Silva’s team will look to ensure they come out on top.
