Arsenal run rule over Lois Openda

Arsenal have joined the race for Lois Openda as Mikel Arteta could make a move for the RB Leipzig hot-shot to ease his striker problem.

According to HITC, Arsenal are ready to battle Tottenham and others in the hunt for Lois Openda ahead of next summer. The Gunners are exploring plenty of striker targets in the market and could look to land the RB Leipzig hot-shot in the next window.

Arsenal interested in Lois Openda?

Arsenal have looked at various striker options to help bolster their squad. But it appears they will postpone any move for a centre-forward until the summer. The cost of signing a high-profile player in the current window seems unsustainable from a financial standpoint amid FFP concerns.

Hence, Mikel Arteta might have the necessary funds to broker a big deal in the summer and has set sights on several options. Recently, Arsenal were linked with Victor Osimhen, who appears likely to leave Napoli next summer. But Chelsea are also firmly settled in the race.

They have set sights on Lois Openda, who has had a fantastic season with RB Leipzig. A recent report pointed further interest in the striker’s teammate Xavi Simons, who Arteta might consider as an alternative to Pedro Neto. However, Openda firmly falls in the category of forward the Spanish manager wants as Arsenal might approach.

Leipzig reportedly wants more than £70 million for the striker, which was reported last month amid Manchester United’s reported interest. Openda has scored 16 goals, including 12 in the Bundesliga, and there will be a lot of clubs vying for the £75 million-rated forward next summer.

Tottenham also chasing Openda?

Tottenham have long considered Lois Openda as a target to bolster their strike force and probably view him as the replacement for Harry Kane. They had been pencilled in to make a move for the £75 million-rated, but now face the added threat of Arsenal in the hunt.

The two North London rivals could battle it out for the striker in the summer, with many more clubs likely to join. Spurs have good relations with Leipzig following the loan signing of Timo Werner, which they can turn into a permanent one by paying the buy options set for slightly over £15 million.

As for Lois Openda, he might be the long-term striker Ange Postecoglou craves and could urge the club to make an early move in the summer. However, Arsenal’s entry would test Tottenham’s resolve, as the Gunners could pose a massive problem in the chase.
