West Ham United have reportedly opened talks with Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois over a move for 21-year-old French defender Bradley Locko.
According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Bradley Locko is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are in the market for a left-back amid Aaron Cresswell’s advancing age. And they have already initiated discussions with Stade Brestois 29 over a possible move for the 21-year-old defender.
Who is Bradley Locko?
Bradley Locko passed through academies of various clubs during his youth career. He began at CA Vitry before representing US Ivry, CFF Paris, Montrouge FC, and FC Lorient before graduating from Lorient’s youth division. The Frenchman has also turned out for Stade Reims but could not grow as well as he would have liked at the club.
Locko has risen in prominence since joining Stade Brestois 29, where he played on loan in the second half of the 2022/23 season. Brest completed the permanent transfer in the summer transfer window, and he has been a solid performer this season. The 21-year-old has turned out 19 times thus far this term, chipping in with one assist.
The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several clubs outside France. Bradley Locko is also a target for Marseille. But West Ham United are pressing ahead with the move for the French defender.
West Ham United Want Bradley Locko
The Hammers are in the market for a left-back, with Aaron Cresswell on the wrong side of 30. The experienced full-back faces an uncertain future at the East London club, with West Ham ready to part ways with him. In addition, Emerson Palmieri, who will turn 30 this year, tends to blow hot and cold.
So, it behoves West Ham to invest in a younger left-back who can compete with Emerson to be the first-choice left-back. Recent reports have thus linked West Ham with several left-backs, including Ian Maatsen. But Bradley Locko is also a viable target for the Premier League club.
