Lucas Bergvall keen on joining Barcelona over other suitors

Lucas Bergvall is reportedly prioritising joining Barcelona over his other suitors when he leaves Djurgardens IF.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lucas Bergvall is a top target for Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing the 17-year-old midfield sensation. And the Djurgardens IF views the Catalan club as his priority destination instead of his other suitors.

The Advent of Lucas Bergvall

Lucas Bergvall has become a hot property in the market since joining Djurgardens IF last year. A graduate of the IF Brommapojkarna youth division, he broke into the club’s first-team squad two years ago as a 16-year-old. But his stock has risen after moving to Djurgardens IF in February 2023.

The 17-year-old has turned out 29 times thus far for Djurgardens IF, chipping in with three goals and one assist. Meanwhile, the Swede has also broken into his national side, making his debut for his country this month. In addition, Bergvall’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

Widespread reports have linked Lucas Bergvall with Premier League bigwigs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United. Bundesliga clubs are also keen on signing the teenage sensation. Meanwhile, he is a target for Barcelona, with the Blaugrana serious about signing him.

Barcelona Keen on Lucas Bergvall

Barcelona’s interest in Bergvall is hardly surprising, considering the youth revolution that Xavi Hernandez has undertaken. The club’s financial issues have forced them to be creative with their solutions. But several young prospects have thrived under Xavi, including Pedri and Gavi.

Barcelona can do with a new young midfielder in the summer transfer window, considering Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu are on the wrong side of 30. Romeu, in particular, does not have a long-term future at the Catalan club. So, Lucas Bergvall is a viable target for Barcelona. And the 17-year-old midfield sensation has now handed them a boost as he views the club as his priority destination.

The reigning La Liga champions have scheduled a new round of talks to sign the Swedish prodigy. So, a move for the teenage prospect should be on the cards as he prioritises joining Barcelona over his other suitors.
