Liverpool are keen on acquiring the services of the 19-year-old KRC Genk attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.
According to a report by Het Belang van Limburg via SportWitness, Liverpool are keen on having Bilal El Khannouss in their ranks. The 19-year-old sensational has made quite a name for himself with impressive performances for KRC Genk and there is a lot of interest in his services.
El Khannouss joined the youth ranks of KRC Genk back in the summer of 2019. He has since come up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022. The teenager has featured in a total of 76 matches and he has contributed towards 14 goals.
His impressive performances have earned him his place in the Moroccan squad for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Those performances have also attracted a lot of attention and quite a few top clubs from across Europe want to sign him.
Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are clubs that have been linked with the 19-year-old. While certain reports suggest that the Madrid club are preparing a five-year contract with the KRC Genk attacking midfielder, Leverkusen and Liverpool are well in the mix.
The Reds are always on the lookout for young players that can help them in the long run and El Khannouss is a huge prospect for the future. On top of that, the Merseyside club underwent an overhaul in the centre of the park during the summer. While those moves have worked out perfectly for Jurgen Klopp, he still needs a few more additions and the attacking midfielder could be one of them.
The Moroccan international is represented by his mother and she has been invited by Liverpool among other clubs to hold talks about the 19-year-old’s future. The Belgian club haven’t been approached yet and the report states that they have informed the player’s entourage that they are ready to be involved in his sale. But, will do that only after the end of the season.
They want the 19-year-old to be their record sale surpassing the €25 million paid by Sheffield United for Sander Berge. To be precise, they hope to collect €30 million from his sale.
