Tottenham are leading the race for Club Brugge’s highly sought-after winger Antonio Nusa as they look to tie up a deal for the Norwegian.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are in pole position to snap up Norwegian winger Antonio Nusa in the coming days. Spurs intend to tie up a move for the £25 million attacker and loan him back to Club Brugge until the summer.
Tottenham leading the race for Antonio Nusa?
Antonio Nusa’s name emerged in the period after the conclusion of the summer window, when reports emerged that Chelsea tried to sign him. The Blues offered a decent sum for the 18-year-old Norwegian, but Club Brugge and the player were determined to stay together.
Chelsea have reportedly resurrected their interest in the £25 million attacker, but so far, the Blues have remained somewhat inactive with their transfer activity. Hence, some of their targets could be up for grabs, and Nusa is one of those, as Tottenham are reportedly closing in on the winger.
Spurs had opened negotiations to sign Nusa, with Brugge understandably open to an offer which comes close to their valuation of the £25 million attacker. Tottenham are considering the Norwegian for a future role but wants to tie up a move now rather than wait until the summer.
As per the report, Tottenham are open to signing him now and loaning him back to Brugge until the summer. The Belgian side are very much in the Europa Conference league and consider Nusa as a critical performer for that run.
Tottenham’s January plans
Tottenham appear to have quite a bit of funds to broker deals for players that elevate their squad quality. The money may have come from the late summer sale of Harry Kane, who also was a homegrown star for Spurs. Their openness to drop a reasonable fee for Nusa shows that, as well as their business already being done this winter.
They have already signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa on a permanent deal while bringing Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig. Spurs have been trying to sign Conor Gallagher, but the midfielder might remain at Chelsea for the remainder of the season.
As for Nusa, he could prove a good addition for the future, with the ceiling already high for the Norwegian winger. If Spurs does manage to sign the winger, the north Londoners might break some Chelsea hearts, with the Blues somewhat keen to sign the winger, too.
