Roma striker Paulo Dybala has been linked with a move to the Premier League and clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on him.
According to a report from Calciomercato, the two English clubs are contemplating a summer move for the 30-year-old South American forward and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal done.
Dybala had a clause in his contract that would have allowed him to join a foreign club for a reasonable price during the first half of January. However, no club has managed to trigger it and the player is set to stay at Roma until the end of the season.
He has proven himself to be a reliable performer in the Italian league and he should prove to be a quality acquisition for the two English clubs as well.
Chelsea need to bring in an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson and the 30-year-old would be a superb acquisition. He has the experience and the ability to succeed in the Premier League and the World Cup winner will add goals and creativity to Mauricio Pochettino’s attack. He is also versatile enough to operate as a centre forward, the number ten as well as a winger.
The striker is at the peak of his powers right now and he could look to make an immediate impact in the Premier League and transform Chelsea in the final third.
Newcastle united could use attacking reinforcements as well. Although they have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson at their disposal, both have had injury problems and Newcastle need more depth in the side.
It will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old Argentine international is keen on a move to Newcastle.
It is fair to assume that the two clubs will probably have to secure Champions League qualification in order to attract a player of his caliber.
Dybala has proven himself in Italy and he could look to pursue a new adventure in English football if the opportunity presents itself. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Both clubs have the financial resources to tempt him with a lucrative proposal at the end of the season.
