Chelsea have been linked with the surprise move for the Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.
The 28-year-old has had a mixed spell at Manchester United since joining the club from Southampton and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are prepared to sanction his departure. A report from Fichajes claims that Chelsea are hoping to secure his services at the end end of the season.
Chelsea currently have Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella as their left-back options but the former Brighton defender has not been able to live up to the expectations and it is no surprise that the Blues are looking at alternatives.
Shaw was regarded as one of the finest young defensive prospects in English football during his time at Southampton and he could be a useful player for Chelsea if he manages to re-capture his form and confidence. He will need to get over his persistent injury problems as well.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United are prepared to cash in on him at the end of the season. They will need to bring in a quality replacement before letting the England international leave.
