Sevilla are reportedly all set to acquire the services of the 20-year-old Manchester United right winger Mateo Mejia.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla were keen on having Mateo Mejia in their ranks, and they have managed to agree on a deal with Manchester United for the services of the 20-year-old winger. The player’s contract was running out, and the La Liga club managed to secure a bargain deal.
Who is Mateo Mejia?
Mejia came through the ranks at Real Zaragoza before joining Manchester United in the summer of 2019. He started off with their Under-18s and is currently a part of the Under-21s. In the ongoing season, he has featured in a total of 12 matches for the youth team and has contributed towards eight goals.
While Mejia is doing well in the age group, he seeks first-team football at this stage of his career. And, with his contract at Manchester United running out at the end of the ongoing season, the 20-year-old’s future has been uncertain for a while.
La Liga on the Cards
Sevilla have been interested in him for a while now. The Spanish club want to add more depth to their attack, and they feel the 20-year-old could help them in the long run. He will only get better with time. As a result, they were willing to invest in him and have managed to strike a deal with Manchester United.
The Red Devils have agreed to part ways with the 20-year-old, who has been a part of their youth ranks for over four years. Sevilla have not only managed to sign an incredible player, but the cherry on top is that they do not need to pay a penny for his services.
Manchester United have agreed to sell him for free since his contract was running out in June. In return, they have agreed on a 25% sell-on clause for the 20-year-old. It seems to be a fair deal for all parties involved. The documents of the transfer will be signed next week and post that, we will have an official confirmation.
