Sevilla are close to beating Everton for the signature of Hannibal Mejbri on loan, with the deal likely to include a buy option.

According to The Athletic, Sevilla are closing in on the signature of Hannibal Mejbri on loan from Manchester United. The La Liga side’s offer is considered more favourable by the Red Devils, as Everton are set to lose out after an attempt to hijack the deal.

Sevilla close to signing Hannibal Mejbri?

Hannibal Mejbri has played a decent amount of games for Manchester United this season. His 11 appearances for the senior side may have come courtesy of a long list of injured first-team stars. But the Manchester United prospect may not get too many opportunities from here on.

Hence, a move away from the club always seemed like the most obvious solution for the Manchester United prospect to consider. He did not join up with his Tunisian teammates for the AFCON to probably finalise a loan move elsewhere.

Mejbri has a contract until the summer of 2025, and Sevilla are now closing in on an agreement with Manchester United to take him on loan. The Spanish side are eager to tie up deals that are feasible and have already secured temporary deals for a few promising players in this market.

They will want Mejbri to shore up their squad and move to a better place on the La Liga table. The deal with Manchester United will reportedly consist of a buy option, which, if activated, will generate a sizeable income for the player. The Red Devils could also include a buyback clause in the deal that will allow them to bring the player back for a fixed price in the future.

Everton lost the race for Mejbri

Everton, like Sevilla, are in the market for bargain signings owing to their precarious financial condition. The Toffees are eager to bring players that would help shore up Sean Dyche’s squad and had identified the Manchester United prospect as a target.

Everton were looking to hijack Sevilla’s deal for Mejbri. But so far, the Andalusian side have fared well and much ahead of the Toffees. The Merseysiders will continue to look for further options in the window as they will look to land at least a few players before the closure.

Fulham’s Harrison Reed remains linked, while some of their present stars are pencilled in to leave for sizeable fees. Chief among them is Amadou Onana, with Arsenal reportedly keen on the Belgian midfielder.
