West Ham United are interested in Wolves star Max Kilman.
Premier League sides West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both enjoying fine 2023/24 seasons and could very well find themselves on the opposing sides regarding Max Kilman. According to GiveMeSport, the Hammers could offer a swap deal to sign Kilman.
The 26-year-old has been a key part of Gary O’Neil’s side and is the lynchpin of the Molineux side’s defence. The English defender is a technically proficient player and his abilities are not lost on David Moyes and Co. The Wolves skipper is also a leader of men and will add much authority to the Hammers’ backline.
David Moyes’s men are a strong side albeit inconsistent. However, they could be on the verge of losing a key player in Nayef Aguerd. The Moroccan international is one of the best players in the Premier League in his position and is a key part of the Hammers outfit.
Losing Aguerd will leave a gap on the defensive roster and will need addressing. Kilman certainly has the credentials to replace the 27-year-old and also will not need time to get used to the English game. The Wolves ace can be backed to go straight into the lineup and do a job for the London side.
According to GiveMeSport, Aguerd’s high-profile errors have put him on shaky ground at the London Stadium. While there is interest from Serie A regarding a loan deal, West Ham would prefer an agreement that will fetch them around £30 million in transfer fee.
But the key aspect remains that Moyes will then need to replace Aguerd in his playing XI. This could see the Hammers offer the Moroccan in a swap deal for Kilman. Given some of the clubs scouting him, it remains to be seen if the Hammers star will be willing to move to the Molineux.
Kilman is a player the Hammers are familiar with having pursued him in the transfer windows gone by. A no-nonsense tackler, the 26-year-old is also capable of playing the ball out from the back. He fits the mould of a modern-day centre-back and is entering the prime of his career.
Wolves, for all their promise, have a ceiling, and West Ham can offer Kilman better prospects. The Hammers have been excellent in the UEFA Europa League and could once again secure a European spot for the upcoming season.
A move would certainly help take Kilman’s talents to the next level and enhance his reputation as a reliable no-nonsense defender. The prospect of landing Aguerd, a player in the same position, in return will also be seen as a win-win at the Molineux.
