Arsenal are ready to trigger the release clause to sign Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid target Jeremie Frimpong.
According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are keen on having Jeremie Frimpong in their ranks. The Gunners are looking to further strengthen their squad, and they feel signing the 23-year-old full-back can make them more potent going forward from the right flank. They are ready to trigger his €40 million release clause to beat Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid to his signature.
Jeremie Frimpong: The Journey So Far
Jeremie Frimpong was a part of the Manchester City youth setup back in the day. He failed to break into their first team and parted ways with them in the summer of 2019 to join Celtic. Had an impressive 18-month-long spell at this Scottish club before joining Bayern Leverkusen in the winter of 2021.
The 23-year-old back has gone from strength to strength since joining the Bundesliga club. He is among the best attacking fullbacks in the world at this point in time. In the ongoing season, he has 17 goal contributions in his 22 outings and has played a big part in Leverkusen’s dominance in the Bundesliga.
While the Bundesliga table-toppers have no intentions of parting ways with the 23-year-old in the ongoing transfer window, they might not be able to stop him from leaving in the summer despite the new deal that he penned down in October last year. In addition, the presence of a release clause, worth €40 million, complicates matters.
A Man in Demand
Meanwhile, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Arsenal are all keen on having him in their ranks. Frimpong can play anywhere on the right flank and he could be a great signing for the Merseyside club. The Reds already have Trent Alexander-Arnold in their ranks, but the Dutch international’s arrival could help them move him into the centre of the park.
Erik ten Hag is looking for a more attacking right back, someone who can join the attack and create more chances. Frimpong is a perfect fit, and they are keen on signing him. Even Real Madrid are looking for a right-back who can replace Dani Carvajal. People at the club, feel the 23-year-old could be an ideal candidate to replace the Spanish international in the short term.
While Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are all keen on acquiring his services, the Gunners are looking to beat them in the race to his signatures. Mikel Arteta feels Frimpong could help them take the next step, and he is looking to sign him in the summer.
