Arsenal are reportedly willing to re-ignite their interest in Alexander Isak as Mikel Arteta’s striker search finds another target.
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal could target Alexander Isak as a potential striker arrival, although any move in January seems complicated. Newcastle United will put up strong resistance if the Gunners decide to re-ignite their interest in the Swede, as a move does look unlikely either in January or next summer.
Arsenal to re-ignite Alexander Isak’s chase?
In January 2022, Arsenal desperately searched for a top-draw striker, indicating they might spend big to land a new lead. Dusan Vlahovic was a big target back then, but the Serbian’s move to Juventus made the Gunners consider a move for Alexander Isak.
While Vlahovic remains a target, the Gunners have now seen links to Isak again. In 2022, Real Sociedad wanted the total value of his vast release clause if any club wanted the Swedish striker. Arsenal cast doubts on the price and decided to end the window without a new forward.
Now, the Gunners are reportedly ready to re-ignite their interest in Isak as Mikel Arteta continues to look out for a new striker. Newcastle United will likely waste no time rejecting any approaches from the Gunners for their key attacker, meaning a January move appears out of the question.
Yet, the report suggests that Arteta might want Arsenal to keep pursuing the £58 million Premier League attacker and see if they stand a chance to negotiate with Newcastle United.
Arsenal continue their striker search
Since the last few months, Arsenal have seen numerous links to new strikers, including Vlahovic, Ivan Toney and now Isak. The Gunners are reportedly keen to add a top goalscorer, as they have struggled in that aspect recently.
Ivan Toney remains a target, but his £100 million asking price may have already halted their hunt, at least in this January window. The Gunners are somewhat short of funds owing to FFP concerns, but they might make a few sales to balance the act and bring in the required players.
Arsenal could also sell Eddie Nketiah if they can sign a replacement in this window. Hence, while one may disregard the links to Isak, the Gunners might even make a significant offer for the Swedish star. For their part, Newcastle will likely reject any overtures for their star man and look to keep him here for the long term.
