Donny van de Beek has joined Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Manchester United until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Donny van de Beek has completed a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the 2023/24 season. The Bundesliga club’s official website has released an official statement confirming the agreement with Manchester United. The Eagles also have the option to sign him to a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.

Donny van de Beek and his Manchester United travails

Donny van de Beek has seen his stock plummet since joining Manchester United from Ajax in September 2020. The Dutch midfielder had arrived at Old Trafford amid much hype and fanfare surrounding him. But he has barely featured for Manchester United in the last three and a half years.

Injuries have also plagued van de Beek. But none of the Manchester United since he arrived has given much game time to the 26-year-old irrespective of his fitness situation. The player had managed only 21 minutes of game time in two appearances thus far this season ahead of the January transfer window.

So, with the winter approaching, it was clear that Donny van de Beek needed at least a loan move to try to resurrect his career. That is when Eintracht Frankfurt came calling, with the Bundesliga outfit first showing interest in him last month.

Bundesliga Calling

Eintracht Frankfurt wasted little time during negotiations with Manchester United over a loan move. The Red Devils also knew they had little chance of recouping anything from his sale. So, discussions between the Bundesliga club and Manchester United concluded midway through December, with both clubs waiting for the January transfer window to open.

That moment has come with the January transfer window now officially open. The Dutch playmaker has joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Manchester United on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season. Die Adler will also have the option to permanently sign him in the summer.

According to BBC, the valuation of the purchase option is €11 million, with an additional €3 million being bonuses. It will be interesting to see if van de Beek can resurrect his career in the Bundesliga or if his travails continue.
