Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign the Romanian defender Radu Dragusin next month.
A report from Corriere Dello Sport claims that the North London outfit have made contact with Italian club Genoa to sign the 21-year-old defender and remains to be seen whether the two parties can come to an agreement.
Genoa will demand a fee of €25 million for the talented young defender and Spurs certainly have the financial muscle to afford him. The 21-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him, and he could develop into a key player for the North London club in the coming seasons.
Tottenham are currently lacking in depth at the back following the injury blows to Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven. In addition to that, Eric Dier has been linked with an exit in January. It is evident that signing a central defender should be a top priority for Tottenham and Dragusin seems like a quality option.
The 21-year-old would be a long-term asset for the London club and he could develop into a top-class Premier League defender with coaching and experience. He has the ability to establish himself as a regular starter for the North London club and he could easily justify the €25 million asking price as well.
Tottenham will be desperate to secure Champions League qualification this season, and they will need to address their weaknesses in January in order to finish the season strongly. They have struggled defensively in the last few outings and someone like Dragusin will help them improve at the back.
The opportunity to play for the London club will be an attractive proposition for the young defender as well. It will be a massive opportunity for him to showcase his qualities at a high-level and he is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete proposal on the table.
The defender has been linked with other European clubs in recent weeks and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can win the race for his signature. He is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League despite interest from other European leagues.
