Manchester United prepared to loan out Amad Diallo amid Southampton links

Manchester United eyeing Evanilson swoop.

Manchester United could send Amad Diallo on loan in January, with Southampton keen on taking the winger to the Championship.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United could green-light another loan move for Amad Diallo, with Southampton pushing to sign the highly-rated 21-year-old. The Ivory Coast international is yet to have his full chance to impress at Old Trafford, but a temporary switch might aid his development.

Amad Diallo and his Manchester United future.

Manchester United snapped up an exciting young star from Atalanta when they agreed on a deal with a potential £37 million for the winger. While he somewhat brightly started his reign at the club, injuries have blighted his time there.

So far, Diallo has made only nine appearances in all competitions, but he did have a wonderful time out on loan to Sunderland last season. In 43 appearances for the Black Cats, the highly-rated 21-year-old notched 14 goals and four assists but could not help them push through to promotion.

Sunderland wanted him back in the summer, but so did other clubs like Leicester City to aid their push back into the top flight. A severe knee injury during a pre-season game against Arsenal ruled out a move back then, as Diallo has not returned to action yet.

Sunderland are already plotting a January move, but much will depend on how he returns to fitness. Manchester United anticipates he will be back shortly and are ready to loan him out again to help aid his development.

Southampton best placed to sign Diallo?

Southampton are keen on taking Diallo back to the Championship as they feel the highly-rated 21-year-old could help with their promotion push. The winger also has reported interest from Wolves in the Premier League, but the admiration has come more from the lower league.

Diallo had a fantastic time in the second tier and may choose to return, although he also has interest from overseas clubs. However, Southampton clearly knows how they want to use Diallo in the second part of the season, as a good plan could help them entice the winger to St Marys.

Southampton could have the upper hand in signing the forward and even think about a permanent transfer next summer, depending on where they are then. Diallo’s current deal expires in 2025, with Manchester United holding the option to extend it by another year.
