Tottenham revive move for Goncalo Inacio

Tottenham are keen on reviving their interest in Goncalo Inacio ahead of January, with Sporting CP adamant about his release clause.

According to Jornal De Noticias via Sport Witness, Tottenham are set to revive their interest in Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio. The €60 million-rated Portuguese international has plenty of top-draw suitors, including Liverpool and Manchester United, as Spurs remain keen to add him to Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Rise of Goncalo Inacio

Goncalo Inacio has been one of Sporting CP’s top-performing stars over the last 18 months or so. The Portuguese international has already garnered rave reviews for his displays for the club and country, as a host of sides are set to pursue him in the upcoming January window.

The youngster has a €60 million release clause of that price, and Sporting CP will only consider an exit if any suitor triggers the condition. Newcastle United are one of the clubs keen to pay up, while Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown a massive interest in the left-footed central defender.

All those clubs are keen on a left-footed option to shore up their backline. But Inacio would not want to play second fiddle anywhere, possibly even Tottenham. The North Londoners are keen on adding to their defensive setup, as Ange Postecoglou wants someone to compete with or deputise for Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham Keen on Goncalo Inacio

Tottenham are ready to revive their interest in the highly-rated defender. But there are question marks over their willingness to pay the €60 million release clause. Sporting have no intention and need to sell for less, and hence they will insist for clubs to trigger the exit clause.

Spurs face massive competition for the Portuguese international if they are indeed in the mix for Inacio. They are also considering other options and have held talks for Jean-Clair Todibo in the background, as Postecoglou remains intent on landing a new defender.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also kept constant tabs on Inacio. But the defender would prefer a move to Real Madrid if Los Blancos enter the race. Hence, the chase for the €60 million-rated Portuguese international could get complicated as things proceed.

Manchester United are also keen. But the €60 million price point may make it difficult for them to sign Inacio. The Red Devils are keen to make deals but unlikely to spend big on individual players, considering they have FFP problems to deal with.
