Newcastle United are reportedly “stepping up their efforts” in the race to sign talented Juventus winger Matias Soule, who is also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Newcastle United are prepared to table a “smart” offer to sign Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur-linked Matias Soule in the upcoming January transfer window.
Matias Soule has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in Serie A, putting in impressive and efficient displays for surprise package Frosinone week in and week out. The 20-year-old Argentine attacker is on loan from Juventus until the end of the season. The Bianconeri sent him to the newly-promoted Serie A side on a short-term deal after struggling to earn playing time last season.
The winger has been a revelation for Frosinone, having already scored six goals while also proving himself as one of the best dribblers in the division. Juventus are prepared to cash in on the winger in January amid widespread interest from clubs from England.
Tottenham, for one, are said to be keeping tabs on him. Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon are both sidelined with injuries at the moment, which means Spurs could do with another winger in their squad in January. Recently, the Lilywhites have been linked with Juventus wide-man Samuel Iling-Junior. And now, other than the English wonderkid, they could try to scoop Soule from the Turin giants.
There is a rich history of transfer business between Juventus and Tottenham. Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski joined the North London outfit on the 2022 winter transfer deadline day, with both going on to be significant successes in their own right.
Crystal Palace have apparently tabled a bid via intermediaries to get a headstart on their competitors. Ravaged by injuries, it has been a challenging start to the season for the Eagles, and they may look to add to their wide options with both Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze struggling to stay fit this season.
Now, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have not only entered the fray but are leading the race for his signature as things stand. Juventus want a permanent sale for the talented winger, who is rated at €25 million, a reasonable price for a player of his potential.
With the Magpies “operating close to their Financial Fair Play limit”, they are looking to facilitate a smart deal that would see Soule continue his progress on loan at Frosinone until the end of the season before making the move to St. James’ Park next summer.
