Liverpool have started making moves to acquire the services of 22-year-old OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.
According to Corriere Torino via SportWitness, Liverpool are keen on further bolstering their team in the winter transfer window as they look to push for the league title. The Merseyside club already have a strong squad but they are looking to add a new midfielder to it and have their eyes on Khephren Thuram.
Thuram who came through the ranks at Monaco has been a part of OGC Nice since the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and has the potential of being one of the best midfielders in a few years time.
The 22-year-old has been in sensational form over the past 18 months and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. It has helped him get called up to the French national team.
Thuram is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. After a disappointing season last time out, the Merseyside club have bounced back in some fashion.
They are currently second in the Premier League just two points behind league leaders Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp wants to push for the league title and is looking to reinforce an already strong squad. He wants to add another midfielder to complete his midfield overhaul and Thuram is one of his targets.
He has all the qualities to fit into Klopp’s system and could help their cause in the short as well as long run. According to the report, the Merseyside club are already negotiating with the French club for the services of the 22-year-old.
They wanted to sign him back in the summer but failed to land him at the club. The interest has remained intact and the Reds are now going hard to sign the French international who has a price tag of €35-40 million. While Juventus are also interested in the services of Thuram, the Old Lady do not have the financial strength needed and this is an advantage for the English giants.
