Arsenal will once again push for the services of the 19-year-old Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande in 2024.
According to Record via SportWitness, Arsenal are keen on having Ousmane Diomande in their ranks. The Gunners have been interested in the teenage sensations services for a while now. They might have failed in the summer but they are all set to return for his services in 2024.
After coming through the ranks at FC Midtjylland, Diomande joined Sporting CP at the start of the year. The 19-year-old has since gone from strength to strength. He has already featured in 33 matches for the Portuguese club and has even contributed towards four goals.
The Ivory Coast international has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team in no time. His impressive performances have also attracted a lot of attention. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 22-year-old for a while now.
The Gunners wanted to sign him in the recent past and they even submitted a bid worth €35 million. But, that bid wasn’t good enough to land him at the North London club. However, they still remain interested in the services of the former Midtjylland defender. They had made it clear back then that they would return for him in 2024.
Mikel Arteta is keen on further bolstering his squad. He wants more depth in the heart of the defence and wants to sign someone who can help them in the short as well as long run. Diomande could be a great fit for the club as he will only get better with time.
He might have a contract with the Portuguese club until the summer of 2027. But, the 22-year-old is expected to join a bigger club in the future. There is a €80 million release clause in his contract and it will be interesting to see what kind of offer Arsenal puts forward this time around in January. Given the importance of the player in the Sporting CP team, they are unlikely to let him go on the cheap in the mid-season window.
