Raphael Varane has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent weeks, with Bayern Munich interested.

Raphael Varane has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and Manchester United would be willing to sanction his departure for a fee of around €20-30 million, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The French defender has been linked with German club Bayern Munich, and it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga champions decide to make a move for him during the January transfer window. Die Roten could certainly use more quality and depth in central defence, and the Frenchman is a proven performer at the highest level.

He was an important first-team player for Manchester United last season. But it seems that he has fallen out of favour with manager Erik ten Hag. The 30-year-old will want to play regularly at this stage of his career. So, if Manchester United cannot provide him with that platform, he will look to move on in search of regular playing time.

The opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in the world in Bayern Munich will certainly be a tempting proposition for the former French international. If they can promise him regular game time, he will want to secure the transfer during the January transfer window.

Recent reports have suggested that not all is right in the Manchester United camp, especially pertaining to Varane. The Frenchman apparently wants to leave Manchester United due to a rift with Erik ten Hag.

The 30-year-old has started just four Premier League games for Manchester United this season, and a player of his quality and experience will want to play more often. The defender has won major trophies with club and country in recent seasons, and Bayern Munich could certainly use someone with his quality and winning experience.

Varane could be one of the leaders of their dressing room and he would be an upgrade on players like Dayot Upamecano. The Bundesliga champions have been quite vulnerable defensively, and they need to tighten up at the back if they want to compete for major trophies.
