Liverpool are not keen on parting ways with their 26-year-old forward Luis Diaz amidst links of a swap deal with Barcelona.
According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on having Luis Diaz in their ranks for years to come. The 26-year-old is already a fan favourite and the Merseyside club will not sanction his departure anytime soon despite him being linked with a swap deal.
Recent reports suggested that Liverpool were ready to offer Diaz in exchange for Barcelona’s Raphinha. But, in reality, the Reds have no intention of negotiating his departure. They are keen on having the 26-year-old at the club for as long as possible.
Luiz joined the Reds from FC Porto for a fee of £37 million. He penned down a five-and-a-half-year deal which runs until the summer of 2027. The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer for the club since making the move.
With Mohamed Salah expected to part ways with the club in the near future, the Reds do need attacking reinforcement. Salah has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and that could come true after the end of the season.
His departure will leave a huge void that needs to be filled. As a result, the Merseyside club are looking to sign someone who can take care of the right flank. They feel Raphinha could be a great fit for the club and according to reports, they were ready to offer Diaz in return.
Barcelona have also been interested in the 26-year-old for a while now. The Catalan giants do not have the best financial situation and an exchange deal would have been a great way for them to sign a world-class talent. However, the Merseyside club have no intentions of selling Diaz.
Recently, the Colombian international’s father has admitted that the 26-year-old is a Barcelona fan. But, a move at this stage is unlikely. He is an important part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans and the German manager has no intentions of sanctioning a swap deal. Meanwhile, Luiz has featured in 14 matches in all competitions this season and has contributed towards five goals.
