Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of 27-year-old AS Roma defender Gianluca Mancini.
According to a report by Romanista, Manchester United are keen on having Gianluca Mancini in their ranks. The Red Devils are looking for defensive reinforcement and they have their eyes set on the 27-year-old AS Roma defender.
Mancini made a name for himself while playing at Atalanta. On the back of his impressive performances, he joined AS Roma in the summer of 2019. He initially joined them on a season-long loan but the move was made permanent in the following summer.
The 27-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining the Italian giants. He has featured in a total of 195 matches and has even contributed towards 17 goals. He is one of the pillars of Jose Mourinho’s team and is currently the vice-captain of the club.
Mancini is an integral part of their team and they have no intentions of parting ways with him. Even the player is committed to the project at Roma but an offer from a team like Manchester United could be tempting. The 27-year-old has been on the radar of the Manchester-based club of late and they could soon make a move.
The Red Devils are interested in the Italian international’s services. They have struggled in the ongoing season and one of the major reasons has been the number of injuries their defenders have picked up.
To ensure they have enough depth as well as quality, they are looking to make another major signing in the heart of the defence. They want to sign someone who has the much-needed experience and could form a dependable partnership with either Raphael Varane or Lisandro Martinez. And, they feel Mancini could be a great fit for the club.
He is a leader on and off the pitch and could be a ideal fit for Ten Hag’s system. The 27-year-old is valued at around €20 million but the Italian club are expected to ask for a fee of around €30-€35 million. If they end up raising such an amount from his departure, the funds could be used to reinforce their squad.
