Manchester United are looking to put forward a part-exchange deal to acquire the services of 27-year-old Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.
According to a report by The Mirror, Manchester United are keen on having Gabriel Barbosa in their ranks. The Red Devils are looking to bolster their attack in the winter and they want to acquire the services of the 27-year-old Falmengo number nine. And, they are ready to offer Antony in part exchange on a short loan.
The Red Devils have had a poor start to the new season and one of the reasons for their struggle has been their form in front of goals. Marcus Rashford who bagged 30 goals last season has only found the back of the net once. Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Martial also haven’t had the best of times.
As a result, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United want to acquire the services of Gabriel Barbosa in January. The Red Devils’ takeover hasn’t taken place yet and since there is no major investment, United must navigate Financial Fair Play regulations. As a result, they are looking for a cut-price deal.
Barbosa has an impressive record in the Brazilian league and on top of that, his contract runs out at the end of 2024. As a result, he will be available for a fee of just £20 million. A figure that United might be able to afford even in their current situation.
While Flamengo are ready to offload Barbosa, they are also looking to bring Anthony to the club on a short loan. Even United are considering sending him out on loan as the Brazilian has failed to deliver after joining the Red Devils in a big-money move in the summer of 2022.
The Brazil international has been at the club for 15 months but he is yet to prove himself. He has failed to get going and things are not really going according to plan for the 23-year-old. He has featured in 11 games this season but hasn’t contributed towards a goal yet.
Anthony was one of the very first signings that Ten Hag made after taking charge but as things stand, he could be back in Brazil to re-discover himself. While the Red Devils are ready to send him out on loan, they have no intentions of offloading him on a permanent basis.
