Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has reached an agreement in principle with a Saudi Pro League club for a transfer in the summer of 2024.
According to a report by Football Insider, Mohamed Salah has agreed to join the Saudi Pro League next summer. The 31-year-old Liverpool star is all set to make the move to the Middle East after the end of the season. The PIF want to make him their next marquee signing.
Since signing Cristiano Ronaldo last winter, the Saudi Pro League has added quite a few more stars. They signed Neymar, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema among others during the summer. They also wanted to add Mohamed Salah to their league.
Al-Ittihad wanted to have Salah in their ranks and they did knock on the doors of Liverpool with an offer of a package worth £150 million. But, Liverpool were not ready to part ways with the 31-year-old. Jurgen Klopp wanted him at the club and they decided to reject the offer.
The Saudi club even considered offering over £200 million but the Merseyside club had no intentions of parting ways with their Egypt international. The Reds have already made it clear that they won’t sell the former AS Roma forward in the winter irrespective of the price.
Saudi clubs are well aware of the situation. And, they have managed to convince the player about a move after the end of the ongoing season. According to the report, the player has agreed on a deal to join the Saudi Pro League.
While the report hasn’t given any details regarding the club involved, Al-Ittihad could return for his services. And, an offer of over £150 million could help them sign the 31-year-old. Salah will be 32 after the end of the season and he would only have a year left on his deal with Liverpool. As a result, the Reds could cash in on their star forward.
Meanwhile, the player already has a verbal agreement in place to join the Saudi Pro League next season. The deal has now been agreed in principle as the player’s head has been turned with a huge contract that will make him one of the highest players in world football.
