Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool would love to have 31-year-old Egypt international Mohamed Salah in their ranks for years to come.
According to Dharmesh Sheth via GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool do not want to part ways with Mohamed Salah anytime soon. The 31-year-old winger has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League for a while now. But the Merseyside club will prefer to have him in their ranks for years to come.
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, and he has not looked back since. The 31-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the years. And, he is amongst the best forwards in world football.
The Egypt international has won every major trophy at the Merseyside club. He has been their star man for quite a few years now. And, at 31 he is still going strong. Salah has featured in 14 matches this season and he has contributed with 10 goals and four assists.
During the summer, there was a lot of interest in the 31-year-old’s services from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad wanted to sign Salah, and they submitted an offer worth £150 million for his services. However, they still could not acquire his services as Liverpool rejected the offer.
Jurgen Klopp feels the Egypt international is still a very important player for his team. As a result, they decided against parting ways with him. The Merseyside club have already made it clear that they won’t sell their star in the winter.
However, the interest in him is still intact. And, with his deal running out in the summer of 2025, Liverpool do not have many options to play with. If they fail to pen down a new deal with the 31-year-old, they will have to cash in on him during next summer or risk losing out on him for free.
The report suggests that Salah is the priority target for the Saudi Pro League, which has already acquired some of the biggest stars. As a result, their interest in him won’t fade away. They will come for him in the summer of 2024. Meanwhile, Liverpool won’t sell him in the winter. And, according to Sheth, if it was up to the club they won’t do any business for the 31-year-old forward.
Sheth said, “He’s still got another year left on his contract after the summer. I cannot see Liverpool doing any business with Mohamed Salah in January. If they had their way they won’t be doing any business with Mohamed Salah at all. That will not stop Al-Ittihad and the Saudi Pro League to try and get Mohamed Salah.”
“He is their number one target, make no mistake about it. It’s like the dream signing for the Saudi Pro League. Liverpool will try all they can. I know he’s in his 30s but he just doesn’t seem to be stopping in his trajectory. He just seems to be getting better and better and better.”
