Manchester United unwilling to entertain Kobbie Mainoo offers amid Manchester City links

Manchester United are not worried about the future of Kobbie Mainoo and will not entertain offers amid Manchester City’s interest.

According to 90min, Manchester United are unwilling to entertain any offers from suitors for exciting talent Kobbie Mainoo. The decision may have arrived amid recent links to Manchester City, but the Red Devils are not overly worried about those connections.

Manchester United have had plenty of problems this season and are looking at internal players for any inspiration to lead them out of their slump. Their recent performances have put pressure on Erik ten Hag, and another few bad results could potentially cost the Dutchman his job.

The Red Devils are keen to make some big decisions and are not interested in external distractions in their quest to balance their act. For instance, amid all the chaos at the club, fans were enraged by reports claiming Manchester City were interested in Kobbie Mainoo.

The teenager was one of the impressive performers during the pre-season campaign. But an untimely injury before the season began has kept him on the sidelines. Fans have dreamt of the 18-year-old playing a significant role in their squad but have gotten a bit excited by the prospect of the midfielder returning.

Despite the interest from Manchester City, with whom Mainoo had trained as a nine-year kid before choosing to join Manchester United, the Red Devils are not overly concerned with those links. With a contract until 2027 with the option of an additional year, they can keep the 18-year-old at the club.

For now, Erik ten Hag will look to slowly integrate the young star into his step after being an unused substitute during the Manchester Derby. He might steadily get his first team minutes this season as the games progress, with ten Hag hoping he can add some of the missing dynamism in his midfield.

As things stand, Manchester United will not entertain any offers from suitors interested in Mainoo, let alone Manchester City. Pep Guardiola would have hoped to snap up the talented midfielder into his ranks but may have to wait for a few more years to think about it again.

Apart from Mainoo, Manchester United have some other young, emerging stars in their ranks. For instance, they decided to keep Hannibal Mejbri amid links from Turkey in the rising player. As for Mainoo, ten Hag will look to give him more time on the pitch, especially if some of his current midfielders leave in January.
