Tottenham Hotspur looking to drop the idea of parting ways with their 28-year-old midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg amidst interest from Juventus.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Juventus are keen on having Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in their ranks. And, they are looking to make a move for the Danish international. But, Tottenham Hotspur still consider him to be an important part of their squad and might look to keep hold of the 28-year-old.
Hojbjerg proved himself in the English top flight while playing for Southampton. His impressive performances earned him a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2020. The Danish international has been a very important member of their first team since arriving at the club.
He was an integral part of their first team last season. The 28-year-old featured in a total of 44 matches and racked up over 3,800 minutes. Hojbjerg even contributed towards 12 goals. Despite his impressive performances last season, the Spurs midfielder is no longer a guaranteed starter.
He has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager has used him in 10 matches but the Daish international has been restricted to 328 minutes of football.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2025 and his game time taking a major hit, the 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club. Multiple clubs seem to be interested in the Spurs midfielder.
Juventus are one of the clubs keen on having the Danish international in their ranks. They have received two major blows in the recent past. Paul Pogba is all set to be banned for doping and Nicolò Fagioli has been banned for a period of seven months because of breaching betting rules.
Their unavailability has left a void that needs to be filled and Hojbjerg could be a great replacement. The 28-year-old has all the abilities to fit into the Juventus system. And, the Old Lady are looking to test the waters with Tottenham for the services of the Danish midfielder.
But, they are not confident about getting a deal over the line. Spurs do not seem to be ready to part ways with the former Southampton midfielder. He might not be a regular but Postecoglou still feels Hojbjerg could be a great asset for his team. As a result, Juventus might struggle to land him at their club.
