Tottenham and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, whose price tag is £30 million.
Matt O’Riley has been in impressive form for Celtic, and his performances have attracted the attention of Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
Matt O’Riley can operate as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham if they manage to secure his services. The central midfielder has contributed to six goals and four assists across all competitions this season.
Tottenham could look to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the coming months amid his links with Atletic Madrid. So, the 22-year-old could replace his compatriot at the club. Ange Postecogou will know all about the player, having worked at Celtic prior to his move to Tottenham. Furthermore, the 22-year-old should be able to fit into his style of play with ease.
The goalscoring midfielder will allow Tottenham to rest the likes of James Maddison as well. Currently, the England international is the only creative midfielder at the club, and signing the 22-year-old Danish international will help them rotate their key players.
The opportunity to play for Tottenham will be an attractive option for O’Riley, and he will be tempted to join them. Tottenham have started the season really well, and they will look to sustain their title challenge until the end of the season. Signing the right players in January will help them finish the season strongly.
Meanwhile, West Ham United could use some creativity and goals in the middle of the park as well. They signed James Ward-Prowse earlier this past summer, and landing O’Riley will add more creativity and goals to David Moyes’s side.
The Hammers are currently competing in the UEFA Europa League and will want to push for European qualification next season as well. The 22-year-old seems like a superb acquisition in theory for both clubs, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Apparently, Celtic are expecting a fee of around £30 million for O’Riley. The two London clubs certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done. He has a contract with Celtic until the summer of 2027. So, they are unlikely to be able to sign him for a knockdown price.
