Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of the 21-year-old Spanish youth international Gabri Veiga.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are interested in having Gabri Veiga in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to reinforce their midfield in January on the back of Sandro Tonali’s 10-month-long ban.
Veiga came through the ranks at Celta de Vigo. He made it to their first team back in the summer of 2022. The 21-year-old central midfielder had an incredible debut season at his childhood club. And, on the back of his impressive performances, some of the biggest clubs in Europe wanted to acquire his services last summer.
Despite interest from some of the giants of world football, the Spanish youth international decided to make a move to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli managed to acquire his services. He has featured in eight matches for the Middle East club and has also contributed towards two goals,
While he seems quite happy at his new club, the 21-year-old could soon make a return to European football. There is interest in his services from Newcastle United. And, since both the Magpies and Al-Ahli are owned by PIF, a deal could be struck in the winter window for his services.
Since the PIF took charge of Newcastle, they have gone from strength to strength. The Magpies have done incredible business in the transfer market. And, after an impressive season last time out, they went big and signed AC Milan sensation Sandro Tonali in a big-money move.
But, the 23-year-old has now been banned for 10 months because of being involved in Illegal betting. With Tonali out from the remainder of the season, the Magpies are looking for a replacement. They have Financial Fair Player concerns and can’t make major signings in the winter.
As a result, Newcastle have turned towards the PIF for help and according to the report, they have agreed on a loan transfer from the Saudi Pro League in January. Veiga is one of the gems owned by PIF who was signed by SPL club Al-Ahli and they are ready to sanction his departure to help out the Magpies.
The 21-year-old is versatile in nature and can surely help Eddie Howe fill the void left by Tonali. But, there are others on the radar of the Magpies and it will be interesting to see who ends up making a move to Newcastle during the winter.
